Exploring Daikanyama: A Family-Friendly Guide
When you’re wandering through the trendy Daikanyama area, especially in the morning, there’s no better place to immerse yourself in the local culture than the T-site Complex. At its heart lies Tsutaya Daikanyama, often hailed as the best bookstore in the world. And let me tell you, it’s more than just a bookstore—it’s an experience!

Experience cherry blossoms and ancient temples
The moment you step inside Tsutaya, you’re greeted by a beautiful layout that’s meticulously designed to inspire creativity. It’s not just shelves upon shelves of books; it’s a cozy haven where you can read, shop, study, enjoy music, or simply soak in the ambiance. My kids love putting on headphones and losing themselves in music, while I dive into the design books that celebrate Japan’s unique aesthetics. There’s even a dedicated section for children’s toys and books, making it a perfect spot for families!

Dining Delights at Ivy Place
Within the T-Site Complex, you’ll stumble upon Ivy Place—a dining gem that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a leisurely lunch. One of our family’s favorite things about Ivy Place is its kid-friendly vibe. The staff is incredibly accommodating, but be warned: they don’t take reservations for groups with children. So, my tip? Arrive early and let the kids play in the courtyard while you wait for your table!
Now, let’s talk about the food. Their pancakes are legendary! Fluffy, delicious, and perfect for children (and adults). Breakfast options include scrumptious eggs that will leave you craving more. On my last visit, I tried a salad for lunch, and let me tell you—it was a delightful surprise! If you’ve lived in Japan, you know how hard it can be to find a truly good salad!
