One of the most breathtaking sights to behold during your visit to Singapore is undoubtedly the iconic skyline, especially in the Central Business District (CBD) area. Why is this skyline so remarkable? If you had visited Singapore just 30 years ago, you would find this area unrecognizable compared to its current form. The transformation is nothing short of extraordinary, highlighting Singapore’s prowess in urban planning and its commitment to becoming one of the world’s most liveable cities. The skyline is adorned with innovative architectural marvels, some of which are built on reclaimed land, showcasing the city-state’s continuous growth and evolution.

If you’re eager to appreciate the skyline, let me share some of my favorite vantage points. As a local who has lived in Singapore for over a decade, I have explored various spots, some of which are free to visit, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the city without straining your budget.

1. Marina Bay Sands Skypark

1. Marina Bay Sands Skypark

Admission: A ticket is required to visit the Skypark. You can purchase tickets here. For entry after 4 p.m., it’s essential to book a time slot when you buy your ticket.

The Marina Bay Sands Hotel is not only a popular accommodation choice but also features a famous infinity pool at its rooftop. This unique structure has become an integral part of Singapore’s skyline. While the pool is exclusive to hotel guests, the public can access the observation deck known as the Marina Bay Sands Skypark. This Skypark offers an incredible 360-degree view of the Singapore waterfront, allowing visitors to see the stunning blend of modern architecture and natural beauty.

If the weather permits, I highly recommend visiting the Skypark close to sunset—around 6:15 PM to 6:30 PM is ideal as the sun typically sets around 7 PM. Watching the city transition from day to night is a magical experience that you won’t want to miss.

2. Bay East Garden

Admission: Free Admission

Bay East Garden presents a more tranquil and less touristy way to admire the Singapore skyline, and best of all, it’s entirely free. This expansive garden features a scenic walking and cycling track that connects to Marina Bay Sands, making it a perfect spot for both relaxation and recreation.

To make the most of your visit, consider renting a bike near Marina Bay Sands. You can use the Anywheel app for green bikes or the HelloRide app for blue bikes. Bike rentals are quite affordable, but ensure you return the bike to a designated parking area. Starting your journey from Marina Bay Sands, you can cycle through Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage, and finally reach Bay East Garden, which leads to East Coast Park. If cycling isn’t your style, you can easily take a taxi to the Bay East Garden Visitor Centre and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the cycling path to capture stunning views of the skyline.

3. Sky Garden at CapitaSpring

Admission: Free Admission. Open to the public Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. You can book a slot to visit here.

The Sky Garden is perched on the 51st level of CapitaSpring, situated in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District. While this commercial building is privately owned, the Sky Garden is accessible to the public on weekdays at no cost. From this height, you can enjoy a decent view of the city, although some areas may have minor obstructions. It’s a wonderful space to take photos and enjoy a moment of peace amidst the bustling city.

In addition to the Sky Garden, visitors can also check out the Green Oasis located on levels 17 to 20, which offers more greenery and a relaxing atmosphere.

4. Waterfront Promenade

Admission: Public space that is open 24/7. Free admission.

Walking along the Waterfront Promenade is one of my favorite activities in Singapore, and it’s completely free! This scenic walkway provides a perfect opportunity for a late afternoon stroll, allowing you to view some of Singapore’s most famous attractions, including the iconic Merlion, the lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum, and the DNA Bridge. The promenade is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, making it a vibrant area to soak in the atmosphere of the city.

5. LeVel 33 Brewery at Marina Bay Financial Center

5. LeVel 33 Brewery at Marina Bay Financial Center

Admission: Cost of food and beverage. A half-pint of beer costs around SGD $18.

As the name suggests, LeVel 33 is a restaurant and bar located on the 33rd floor of the Marina Bay Financial Center. While the dining experience is decent, with a menu that offers a range of options, the real draw here is the view. LeVel 33 boasts one of the best vantage points to see the Singapore waterfront from above. They have a small outdoor area with standing tables where you can enjoy a clear view of the waterfront while sipping on their locally brewed beer, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration.

6. SKAI at Swissôtel The Stamford

Admission: Cost of food and beverage. High tea costs SGD $68 per person.

SKAI is an upscale dining venue located on the 70th floor of the Swissôtel The Stamford. I highly recommend visiting for their exquisite high tea, which runs from 3 PM to 5 PM. The restaurant features full-length windows, providing an unobstructed view of the entire Singapore waterfront area, allowing you to relax and enjoy the view while savoring delicious treats. If high tea isn’t on your agenda, SKAI also offers a full dining menu and a bar area, making it a versatile choice for any meal or occasion.

7. The Pinnacle@Duxton Skybridge

Admission: SGD $6. Here is how to access the Skybridge.

The Pinnacle@Duxton is a public housing project situated on prime real estate in the Duxton/Outram Park area. This impressive development has two Skybridges located on the 26th and 50th levels. However, only the Skybridge on the 50th level is accessible to the public. For a nominal fee, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city from this elevated walkway, which provides a unique perspective on the urban landscape.
